Why Paleo Parrot?

Eating clean is a way of life - if I want my body to keep up with my enthusiasm.

I LOVE dessert.  I enjoy making it, eating it, decorating it, sharing it and adding more pictures to my "Ace of Cakes"-style portfolio.

"Ace of Cakes” wannabe for my dear friend Jade's birthday

The challenge I had in 2012 was:  I wanted to stick with the paleo lifestyle after realizing so many benefits from it after years of struggling with an autoimmune disorder (Hashimoto’s) BUT I was missing my sweet hobby.  Having just one slice of cake would bring on that sluggish and tired feeling that I remembered so well from before I went Paleo.

That was the inspiration to experiment with favorite dessert recipes. Just as I did for meals, I replaced processed foods with paleotastic alternatives such as almond flour, fruits and honey.  At first the cookies tasted like cardboard and I couldn't give them away but after a lot of trial and error, I have found the right combination of paleo-approved ingredients to mimic the sweet taste I was craving.

1st Attempt at paleo cookies...some similarity to cardboard.

Upon learning others would like clean treating options but don't have time or desire to bake - this was the inspiration for Paleo Parrot:  a grab and go, healthier dessert option for consumers who are seeking an easy way to eat healthier while being a special treat for those with autoimmune disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, and diabetes.

After conducting over 1000+ taste tests resulting in positive feedback to the moist, dense, flavorful, melt in your mouth snack cakes; Paleo Parrot is open for business.

There are no fillers; all flavors contain ingredients with healthy benefits from antioxidants, vitamins, medium chain fatty acids, protein and fiber.  Many of the ingredients are proven to lower LDL (bad cholesterol), raise HDL (good cholesterol), reduce appetite and aid in weight loss.

I am adamant about MADE IN THE USA products and I am very proud to work with Best Buddies Bakery (www.wearewellspring.org) in Castle Rock, CO; they employ adults with special needs.  Not only are they doing a fantastic job making Paleo Parrot grab and go snack cakes, they also put love into everything they do.

I started building the company in February 2014 and shipped my first product in September.  I want to help people find a healthier alternative to common sweet snacks and provide meaningful employment for folks who want to contribute and accomplish while still having time to spend time with their loved ones.

I am participating in Startup Rounds to build enough capital to hire a food scientist.  I am seeking an all natural solution to preserve the snack cakes.  If anyone knows about pasteurization of bread, please reach out - I'd like to learn more about this.

I sincerely hope you will join the evolution of clean treating and enjoy these sweet treats.

With love from Colorado,
